History Of The DASD Student Tech Team

The Dover Area School District Student Tech Team was founded in the Fall of 2018 with the sole purpose of providing technological support to students. The organization was founded by its seven cofounders, in conjunction with Mrs. Helwig and the DASD Technology Department. In its early years, the organization was located in the old high school in the ILC with only a plastic table and iPads. Since then, the organization has grown into a mature function of the entire district. For example, the Student Tech Team now has multiple branches at the High School and the Middle School; it has dedicated help desks located within each of the two buildings; it offers a Capstone program to its Technicians, which offers real-world experience and a school credit; it offers part-time/full-time Summer positions with the DASD Technology Department; last, but not least, the organization provided continual support throughout the entirety of quarantine from COVID-19, which was integral to the operations of online-schooling. To this day, the organization continues to provide support to staff and students, and strives to reduce the friction between technology and its users.
